As progressives in our community and across America consider ways forward from the tumultuous 2016 presidential election, we look for paths toward reconciling political divisions while persevering in our determined efforts to bring peace, justice and compassion into our world. We recognize that our role in this struggle requires us to maintain these core principles within ourselves, so we may effectively model our values in our work as activists. In that spirit, Conscientious Projector will screen the thoughtful documentary Inner Peace to World Peace on Thursday, December 8, 7:00 p.m. at Armory Center for the Arts.
The Uplift Media Channel production calls on leading experts and scientific researchers to examine how our own inner peace is directly related to generating it in the wider world. The inspirational film explores how the practice of meditation, both personal and collective, contributes to an emerging global consciousness that sees meditation not only as a spiritual discipline, but also as practical means of healing that prepares and fortifies us in our pursuit of justice as we face the challenges placed in front of us.
The film concludes with a brief guided meditation, which will be followed by a community discussion. The Armory is located at 145 N. Raymond in Old Pasadena. Admission is free and the facility is accessible to disabled persons.
