December 2013: Living in Harmony with Mother Earth

United-Natures-DVD-slip-front-coverOn Thursday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m., Conscientious Projector will screen United Natures: A United Nations of All Species.  Filmmaker Peter Charles Downey (Anima Mundi) gathers some of the world’s foremost environmental activists and philosophers in a loving and beautifully-made meditation on nature, its abundant gifts and humanity’s place in the delicate, interdependent web of life woven by the natural world and now threatened by climate change and human overreach. Witnesses David Holmgren, Dr. Vandana Shiva, Starhawk, John Seed, Rosa Maria Ruiz, Polly Higgins, Cormac Cullinan, Father Bob Maguire and others offer learned insight into the philosophy of permaculture, Gaia theory, sustainability, indigenous wisdom and spirituality. The film also advocates for The Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth, which Bolivia has presented to the United Nations for its consideration. (The UN is not affiliated with the production.)

A community discussion will follow the film. The Armory is located at 145 N. Raymond in Old Pasadena. Admission is free and the facility is accessible to disabled persons.
